Gladys (Renee) Metcalf
Professional Counselor
Excellence, Privacy, and Compassion
Gladys (Renee) Metcalf had a wealth of experience prior to completing her master’s programs. She worked with youth in a group home, worked in the child welfare system, with the LGBTQ population, in a prison system, and a parole system and served in the United States Military giving her a great depth and breadth of understanding of a broad range of at-risk populations. Renee used this broad base as she received her master’s in social work and a Master's in Human Services from Capella University.
Since graduating Renee has specialized in mental illness and chemical dependency treatment for a broad range of patients including special needs young adults, LGBTQ, first responders, and military patients. She enjoys working with patients in both individual and group settings. She believes in the potential of all people and reinforces that a person’s past is a place to grow from, not a place to be stuck. She consistently assists the client to identify their strengths and creates “homework” to use those strengths as building blocks to reach their goals.
Renee grew up in Western Kentucky. She enjoys the outdoors including hiking, camping, and fishing. She lives in Phoenix with her wife Martha, two dogs, and three cats including a three-legged cat she found in her yard having been mauled requiring an amputation and a forever home.
